It all started with two Bumble profiles and a game of F.M.K. with our top interests. That playful start led to our first date — getting lost in a Detroit parking garage before a holiday stroll through Campus Martius.

Things moved fast (in the best way). Within a week or two, MacKenzie was meeting Anthony’s friends and family. From there came months of hour-long drives to see each other, Detroit sports games, play dates for the dogs, lake days, and family trips to Mexico and Puerto Rico— all filled with laughter and love.

Then came the proposal — complete with a web of “totally normal” white lies to keep it a surprise. Mary and Graeme “just happened” to be in town, MacKenzie waking up to an 8 month late “30th birthday” celebration, and a few “last-minute plans” that made sure MacKenzie didn’t suspect a thing. Finally, at her favorite beach on Lake Michigan, while she was knee-deep searching for Petoskey stones, Anthony got down on one knee.

After a very quick “YES!”, their families came running down the beach to celebrate — the perfect ending to the perfect surprise.
